Our vision is to aid the broken-hearted Widows, fight for their rights, and bring them together in order to overcome loneliness, by encouraging them that life is still meaningful, even in their widowhood.
Objectives
Improve the living standards of the poorest Widows through the following:
- To spread the good news of Jesus Christ through evangelisms and 'get together' seminars.
- To raise awareness about health care and health promotion, and advise on the prevention and containment of STD's, AIDS, and other communicable diseases.
- To pay a regular visit to the less fortunate Widows who are bed-ridden.
- To encourage Widows to establish themselves in their matrimonial homes by empowering them financially by initiating small self-help projects.
- Many African women toil all their lives on land that they do not own, to produce what they do not control. Then, at the end of the marriage, through divorce or death, they can be sent away empty-handed. Well of Hope is out to help teach the poor Widows on how to go about succession in the case of such eventualities. - To buy land to settle about 200 widows including those who have been chased away from their matrimonial home after the death of their husbands.
- The organization has been able to buy two acres of land in Kiserian where we intend to settle the first batch of 28 widows. - Development of smaller self-help groups termed "Widows based organizations", to promote small-scale business.
- To assist in education.
Our greatest challenge at the moment involves settling the widows and educating children of these less fortunate Widows, of which, is increasing proportionally to the number of Widows as a result of the AIDS epidemic.
