Well of Hope International was founded in September 2002 by Mrs. Zipporah Kamau, with the assistance of her husband Nathaniel Kamau, and Pastor John S. Kipeen who are the Directors of this Ministry.
After going through Acts 6: The Lord overburdened our hearts about the Widows Ministry. We observed that although people murmur about widows, nothing much is done about them. The bible says in Acts 6:1 that "In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Grecian Jews among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food."
The disciples did not take this problem lightly, and so they proposed to choose people who would serve these widows. In verse 5 of Acts chapter 6 it says, "This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmens and Nicolas from Antioch a convert to Judaism." Today our country is full of widows who feel that they are being neglected in our daily ministration. They live in a world of loneliness and sometimes they suffer depression. Many have been sent away from what used to be their homes while others are being forced into immorality by what is known as wife inheritance. They are therefore looking for Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Permenas and Nicolas of today who will serve them. We thank God for giving us this ministry at this time because he has a purpose for it. The main purpose of this ministry is to restore the lost joy after the loss of a beloved husband. The rate of death through disasters e.g. AIDS, tribal clashes and bandits in some parts of our country have rendered many widows.
Today, Well of Hope International is answering the call to take care of these needy widows from every corner of Kajiado District, which comprises of mostly Maasai and a little portion of other tribes. The ministry, is growing rapidly due to our members working together to lift themselves out of the spiritual and physical break down that they have undergone. "Let your light so shine before Men, that they may see your good works and give glory to your father who is in heaven" - Mathew 5:16.
